I saw the Sex Pistols live in 1976, aged 14. I once saw the Ramones, supported by Talking Heads in a pub in Croydon, on a Sunday night, as long as I was home by 11, aged 14. The following week was Generation X, the week after was the Banshees supported by the Buzzcocks.
If only Malcolm McLaren knew how much of me is me because of him.
I didn't see any of them because of my age, much to my eternal regret. I turned down the Pistols when they reformed a decade or so back, because I thought it was best to let sleeping dogs lie.
When people growing up in my generation were listening to Nirvana and Oasis etc, I was listening to the Pistols and S.L.F. because I loved the energy and nihilism of which they portrayed.
Without McLaren my adolescence would have been a much less enjoyable place to evolve, into the outright bastard that I've now become.
I'm with Spidey and Conan. ABBA anyone? MM converted me to 'I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT BUTTER!'. The mistress's arsehole hasn't been the same since, but you had to have seen 'Last Tango in Paris'.

I hope it says all that on his gravestone
Didn't he invent the pushchair?

Salute, Malcolm. And thanks.
Did you wear a mask to get in...?
It's a generational thing I suppose; I'd still pay to go and see Jethro Tull, I couldn't say the same for any punk band.
Paul Weller anyone?

R.I.P. Malcolm McLaren.
Looks like MM is a common denominator for a few of us then which would also explain a little of why we all are, how we all are today.
Fucking loved the Ramones, Susie, Buzzcocks, xrayspecs. Oh, and of course Satan's Rats but that's another story ;-)
No worries Conan, The Jam were 'right up there' with regard to my formative years too ;-)
Who do people like him have do die, whilst Gordon Brown still wastes oxygen?
So long and thanks for all the glue.
Sorry, folks, I detested fucking punk, so I'm afraid I won't miss him and I have nothing to thank him for.... I preferred music.
