Richard Curtis Talks About The 10:10 Mini-Movie No Pressure

In this short documentary Richard Curtis, the man behind Comic Relief and the writer responsible for the 10:10 No Pressure mini-movie, gives us his insight into the making of the 'splattergate' eco fascist film. It also includes cameo appearances from Franny Armstrong, the film's director, and that tree hugging marxist and Forrest Gump impersonator, Red Ed Miliband.

Incidentally, following a tip off from a commentor here, I'm rather looking forward to today's official statement from Sony who have taken the decision to disassociate themselves as one of the official partners of the 10:10 project. I see their name has already disappeared from the list of sponsors and funders. Hmmm, I wonder if the BBC, as producers of Comic Relief, will also be withdrawing their support any time soon?

No pressure ;-)

Wierd, I stopped that Muse track, which I was listening to, to watch that top clip. There's some very good spoofs out there, this would be one of the more hard hitting ones - excellent

  4. The reply I got from Sony.....

<span><span>Thank you for your email concerning the video released by the 10:10 climate change campaign group. Sony has supported the 10:10 climate change campaign because we share its objective to reduce carbon emissions. However, we strongly condemn the "No Pressure" video, which was conceived, </span></span><span><span>produced and released by 10:10 entirely without the knowledge or involvement of Sony. </span></span>
    <span><span> </span></span>
<span><span>The company considers the video to be ill-conceived and tasteless. We also believe this video risks undermining the work of the many thousands of</span></span><span><span> members of the public, schools and universities, local authorities and many businesses, of which Sony is one, who support the long-term aims of the 10:10 movement and who are actively </span></span><span><span>working towards the reduction of carbon emissions. </span></span>
    <span><span> </span></span>
<span><span>As a result we have taken the decision to disassociate ourselves from 10:10 at this time.</span></span>

  5. Another group to add to the list of terrorists because they are saying if you dont agree with us we will kill you.
Even children are not safe from these terrorists, from now on anyone mentioning this 10/10 outfit add the word <span>'terrorist</span>'

  6. Good job, Gotty. The scenes you cut in as Curtis talks about the favourite things to shoot were a nice touch.

  7. And it looks like 10:10 are desperate to avoid losing their sponsors

As you may have heard, last week, 10:10 made a mistake by releasing a short film about cutting carbon which was supposed to be humourous but in the event upset a lot of people. We quickly realised that we had made a serious mistake and took it down from our website within hours.

We also issued a statement apologising but there has subsequently been quite a lot of negative comment, particularly on blogs, and understandable concern from others working hard to build support for action on climate change.

We are also sorry to our corporate sponsors, delivery partners and board members, who have been implicated in this situation despite having no involvement in the film’s production or release

I am very sorry for our mistake and want to reassure you that we will do everything in our power to ensure it does not happen again.

10:10 is a young and creative team but we will learn lessons from this. We are going to investigate what happened, review our processes and procedures, and share the results with our partners. Responsibility for this process is being taken by the 10:10 board of directors.

This media coverage for this film was not the kind of publicity we wanted for the cause of saving the climate, nor for 10:10, and we certainly didn’t mean to do anything to distract from all the efforts of those in other organisations who are working so hard to secure effective action on climate change.

If you have been in touch with us personally about the film, we will be replying to individual emails over the next few days. I’m sorry not to have emailed you about this more quickly - although I have followed developments closely, I’ve been working from home with a four-week-old baby. I thank you for your patience and your support for the 10:10 campaign.

  8. It's all an utter farce, isn't it?

Though I can't help but wonder why this isn't getting much coverage in the press here. The Grauniad have featured it and one or two other outlets, but that's pretty much it. Disappointing, but unsurprising.

  9. > Sony has supported the 10:10 climate change campaign because we share its objective to reduce carbon emissions

Bollocks do they. Sony are a money grabbing corporation who believe such sponsorship appeals to potential buyers of their overpriced substandard products. Not being stupid, they recognise that being associated with this video adversely affects their reputation with that market, hence their u-turn.

Don't buy Sony. Don't let friends buy Sony.

It's a very odd movie and doesn't put the climate change brigade in the right light at all.  In  fact, you'd be forgiven for thinking that climate sceptics had made it to lampoon the Al Gore and his crowd.

Mind you, I wouldn't mind using that red button on a few of our politicians...

  13. Problem for this crew is that the damage has been done. They have inadvertantly allowed us to see inside their murky, pervy little minds and, lo and behold, it's a nasty shitty place to be.

Whatever else they do in the future, however much humble pie they eat, they will always be known as that smug self-satisfied shower of Mutual Wankers Society life-members who thought it would be awfully clever to release That Video.

Unfortunately, in all their excitement, they pressed the wrong button and shot themselves up the arse.

  14. No sign of it on the BBC news website either.

  15. I think it does put a section (hard left, vicious, humanity-hating) of the  'climate change brigade' in just the right light.  In fact, it captures some essential features of them.  I do wish they would all go back to whatever quagmire of depravity they came from.
