    Interesting. ISTR that under the Tories, Legal Aid availability was actually means-tested. Now it seems under Nu Labour it is no longer.

    Hmmm. Perhaps the troughers saw it coming and changed the rules to benefit themselves in advance, in the event they got nicked.

    A bit like when Blair and Brown, shortly after coming into office, abolished the Death Penalty for High Treason...

    The bad news is that Southwark Crown Court is under the old legal aid regime which means that as these tossers do not meet the income criteria but are under the threat of loss of liberty they are allowed legal aid. Which they will pay back after the case but if they can affords to pay it back after the case nudge nudge wink
