Thanks but if you check back on previous posts in this blog I have had some vids deleted by YouTube and have now received my second 'strike' hence the need to use DailyMotion. Apart from picking up the embed codes I'm not up on the download thing. Perhaps someone else can help you here? Dazed and Confused is shit hot on the tech stuff, he may know? Or Fido, he uses DM too.

ReplyDeleteNICK. 1 ) Download Realplayer which gives the option of saving almost all posted vids whatever the source.
2 ) The old fashioned way which is much the same as 1) above.
Clear out your temporary internet files, play the vid, click on 'tools' up there on the right > internet options > Browsing History Settings > View Files > Right click 'arrange files by' " size" > click on file ( the way biggest one ) then top left, Folder Tasks > ' copy this item ' to My Documents or whatever.
You will then have a .flv file which can be converted to whichever format you prefer.
Realplayer takes over your computer! I have the plugin installed as I've found it will get some clips that Download Helper won't. BUT it insists on running at startup, and wants to phone home frequently for update checking. I have managed to stop all this behaviour, but it involves deleting several files, and delving into the registry....
